XIX International Accordion Composition Competition Francisco Escudero, organized by Hauspoz, the Accordion Association of the Basque Country
Applications must be submitted via Google Forms, using this link. The deadline for submission is September 25, 2026. The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 11, 2026, at the Teatro Modelo in Zarautz.
There is no registration fee. The first modality is aimed at promoting the creation of works for solo accordion or chamber music with accordion (up to 4 performers and at least one accordion). The competition is open to composers of all ages and nationalities, under the following conditions:
- Compositions must have been written after January 2022.
- The maximum duration is 10 minutes.
- Works may have been commissioned and premiered (live or digitally), but previously awarded pieces will not be accepted.
- Scores must be anonymous (only a title or motto should appear, no personal information).
The winning work will receive a €2,000 prize and will be published by the organization.
The second modality is focused on pedagogical works for students aged 6 to 18. Submissions must be chamber works (solo pieces are not accepted) with a clear educational purpose and can be for any instrumental ensemble.
The winning composer in this category will receive a commission of €1,100 to write a new piece for an accordion ensemble (maximum 5 voices). The commissioned work will be premiered at the next edition of the TOPAKORD Meeting for accordion players, and must be completed by March 1, 2027. As with the first modality, the score must be submitted anonymously.
To apply, composers must fill out the Google Form and attach the following documents:
- The anonymous score in digital format (or a scan if handwritten, with sufficient image contrast).
- A short biography.
