Église protestante unie du Saint-Esprit
Sing to the Lord a new song!
The Esprit Culture association of the Église protestante unie du Saint-Esprit (United Protestant Church of the Holy Spirit) in Paris is organising an international competition for the creation of new hymns intended for congregational singing in the Lutheran/Reformed tradition.
Composers are invited to create a new melody for one or more of the three texts proposed in French, all adapted from or inspired by passages from the Bible.
The compositions will be submitted to a ten-member jury presided by Gilles Cantagrel, musicologist and former Director of Music at Radio France.
Following a pre-selection round and evaluation of the ten finalist compositions, a first prize of 5000 euros and a second prize of 2500 euros will be awarded by the jury, with a supplementary Audience Prize (Prix du Public) of 2500 euros.
The compositions must be received at the latest on 30 September 2021.
The competition is open to all without restriction as to age, profession or nationality.
Competition rules, further information and instructions for registration are available online on the website
