Allmänna Sången & Anders Wall Composition Award 2027

The award-winning Swedish choir Allmänna Sången presents a new edition of its international competition for women composers. For the sixth time, Allmänna Sången and Anders Wall, in collaboration with Beijerstiftelsen and Gehrmans Musikförlag AB, are organizing the Allmänna Sången & Anders Wall Composition Award (ASAWCA).

Only women composers are eligible to participate in the competition. Submitted compositions must be original and must not have been previously published or performed. Composers are free to choose the lyrics for their piece, which should resonate with contemporary themes. If using pre-existing texts, it is the composer’s responsibility to obtain written permission for their use. This documentation must be included with the competition entry. Lyrics may be in any language. However, if the chosen language is other than English, Swedish, or Latin, a pronunciation guide must accompany the submission.

The winner will receive a prize of SEK 50,000 (approximately €4,500), and the winning composition will be premiered by Allmänna Sången and published by Gehrmans Musikförlag AB.

The registration for ASAWCA 2027 will open on 8 March 2026.
