SoundCircus emerged from a desire to create a unique sound event that would captivate Helsinki’s residents and visitors through an immersive auditory experience with familiar sounds. The concept was driven by the idea of presenting sound as art, using a circus format to make the event engaging and accessible. This format includes ringmasters calling the event in Finnish, Swedish, and English, ensuring inclusivity for the diverse audience. The event is set in Helsinki’s developing Teurastamo art district, chosen for its vibrant atmosphere and collaboration opportunities with local bars and restaurants. SoundCircus is designed as a free public event to complement Yes and NoTations, Charlie Morrow’s show of media and event scores at Kohta Taidehalli, an independent art venue with free admission.
SoundCircus consists of two full-fledged event days of performances and installations in Teurastamo, of which the following program is included in the Celebration – Composers 80 concert series. See full program from the event website. All events have free entry.
